Real Movies. Real Candid. Reel Geeks.

Each week, a trio of film nerds give their honest opinion on new movies in theatres, trailers, and upcoming DVD releases.

This isn't your mother's podcast.

There is comedy, swearing, and audible nudity (yes, we just made that up). If you are a true film geek or may just love movies, this is definitely the podcast for you!

Date: July 4, 2010
Guest: Jack Conway
Movies: 1941
Glory

1941 is Gelder's pick for a film celebrating this fine nation. But Grae feels the same way about it that she did about fireworks as a child: frightened by all the noise. Glory receives a surprisingly warm reaction, especially when they decide that it should be set to Ferris Bueller's soundtrack. And just for legitimacy's sake, make sure to pay attention to WHY Jack is allowed to discuss race relations in this country. He proves it, right on the air!

Guest: Rick Ramos
Movies: Once Upon a Time in the West
On Golden Pond

It's HENRY FONDA week here, and the films are On Golden Pond and Once Upon a Time in the West. Once Grae clears up the fact that Joey has angina and not a vagina, and Rick realizes he loves Midnight Run because DeNiro reminds him of his father, that paves the way for Joey to call George Clooney and Brad Pitt "faggots that don't call each other during the week." This episode is filled to the brim with Hollywood anecdotes and reasons to watch some old movies and celebrate old school magic.

Guest: Thomas Fenton
Movies: Flash Gordon
Krull

Although Tom is one of the minds behind Saw IV, Grae is surprisingly not frightened to have him in the treehouse and Joey gets totally starstruck. It's adorable. This week they are giving away the WTF Award as they discuss Flash Gordon ("Aaaah! Savior of the Universe!" says Freddy Mercury) and 80s fantasy Krull ("We don't care about this one!" Queen continues). Tom quotes David Lee Roth, Joey just wants someone to Get Him, Grae is obsessed with a gay starfish, and all three of them are nostalgic for whimsy in film.

Brad brings with him videos about Mombies and a vast knowledge about Green Bay Packer football. Oh, and movie knowledge too! Guest host Emery Emery opens the show much stronger this week...but only because he pledges his undying allegiance to Grae, which butters her up. It's PHILANTHROPY WEEK and the films reviewed are Robin Hood and Harry Brown. Also this week marks the first installment of Popcorn Mafia Theater!

Emery Emery lugged both his Mac Book Pro and a blender-full of frapuccino up to the Treehouse in order to seduce G2 into admitting how much they "like Snatch." In this episode opinions are set to stun as they squabble over emaciated heroin addicts in Rocknrolla and bicker about sightless Mexicans in Blindness. No group is safe from our troubled trio as they harp on everyone from the Japanese to receptionists...while Emery keeps trying to get Gariana to put her hand in his lap.

Enter BJ Serviss, one of our Best Friends of the Show, who came in on short notice to offer his opinion on both Hancock and The Wackness.

Magness joins G˛ this week. The universe has sent the trio a message that we graciously relay to you, dear listener: THIS PODCAST SAVES LIVES. And although Rob was saved, and then donated his time to discuss Indy and The Fall with them, Grae still calls his youngest kid a loser and Gariana insinuates that his wife is a whore. Rob counters with an uncomfortable but strong love for Lee Pace. Go fig.
